I
used Google to do my Internet search of the three terms, forgiveness,
reconciliation, and revenge. First, I searched each term separately and then I
searched the three words together in one search. When I searched “forgiveness”
by itself, I got a Wikipedia website about forgiveness and then a few sites about
how the Bible says to forgive. I also got a few YouTube videos and psychology
websites. Next, I searched “reconciliation” by itself. For this term, I just
got a bunch of websites that defined the word. The first two were Wikipedia
sites as well, but two different Wikipedia sites on reconciliation. The first
was regarded the United States Congress while the second was the word in
general. When I searched “revenge” I only got websites regarding the TV series
that is quite recent. Finally, when I searched them all together I got a bunch
of scholarly journals and books. The term “forgiveness” happened to have the
most diverse websites produces, probably because it is such a broad topic.
California Girl,
ReplyDeleteIt seems like we had a lot of the same results when looking up the three words. There seemed to be a Wikipedia website designated to each word. They all explain the words definition and its origin. I also found a bunch of biblical websites along with definitions when I searched forgiveness. When I searched revenge, I got the same that you did. It was just a bunch of websites based around the TV show. I got pages and pages of it with episodes, gossip and then finally, I found a YouTube video of a driver getting revenge on another driver. Overall, it seems that we had similar results.
California Girl,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your post, it seems as though we had extremely similar results. "Forgiveness" definitely gave me the most diverse results. It was interesting to me that none of the other words had this incredible diversity within their results. "Reconciliation" just had a few different websites that defined the words differently and "revenge" was just as you described, having a ton of information on the television series. I agree with your post when you say that forgiveness is so diverse because it's such a broad topic. I also think this has to do with how powerful the word is. You can see this by the fact that there are different songs named after the word. It is also a word that makes a strong impact in people's lives.
I myself used Google for my internet search. I searched for the words separately but I did not search the three terms all at the same time. Feel that was a very interesting thing to do and I really liked it. I also had results relating to the bible about forgiveness. We got the same results because we used the same search engine and for some reason I find that interesting also. When you searched the three words together I liked how it came up with scholarly journals. It seems like it was so many words together it made the search more professional Great post!
ReplyDeleteHi California Girl, your response this week was really interesting to read. I thought you did a great job! When I searched the words forgiveness, reconciliation, and revenge, I searched them all separately. I thought it was interesting that you did some searches where you combined some of the terms. I thought searching the term forgiveness was the most useful for me because I am in a situation where I need to forgive someone but it has been difficult. The search of the term forgiveness provided some very helpful sites that had to do with healing and trying to move on from being hurt. This post was very useful.
